Beware of LinkedIn Scams

LinkedIn Scams Targeting Recruiters

There is an organization/person who is targeting Recruiters to perpetrate scams on job seekers.

Watch for Similar Company Names

They have hacked in/hijacked my LinkedIn account and have posted a remote Customer Service position, as my company.  I am not affiliated with them in any way. They are using calm-water.org.

They are interviewing candidates and extending job offers that look legitimate.  They have even gone so far as to steal my company’s logo and create an offer letter, including a form requesting the job seekers social security number and bank account information.

I have filed a complaint with the FBI on the www.ic3.gov web site and have shared as much of the information as I could pull together from the job seekers who have called and emailed me.

To the best of my knowledge the email address they started with is invalid, the phone number is invalid and the email address they ended up with is directing job seekers to my URL, but not to anyone who works for my company.

I have been locked out of my LinkedIn account and LinkedIn did not respond to any of my emails asking for help to stop the scams.  It was several months before I could get into that site to post a warning. LinkedIn is also one of the only social media sites that does not have a law enforcement contact number.

Please be careful.  Do not share any of your confidential information with anyone unless you are certain it is a valid job/company.

Please feel free to share this with anyone you think would benefit from the information.
